To all members
At the last Club Meeting at The Chetwynd Arms attended by Brian, Don, Ian
and 5 other members, we have decided to raffle the Club Plane. (Pictures attached)
The logistics of people getting hold of the plane, re-charging etc. is a non-runner.
If you are not yet aware, the Club transmitter has already been stolen! We
do not propose to waste any more club funds.
We have estimated we need to clear £100 to cover our costs. Raffle tickets
can be bought from me or Don at £1 per ticket or 6 for £5.00.
As soon as we have reached our target we will draw the raffle on the next
Monthly Meeting at The Chet.
You will be advised of the date by web-site and Club Noticeboard.
Brian

It's True, Don can pick up something heavier that a pen, as this photo clearly shows

Also, notice the look of concentration on Brian's face as he gives moral support.
While at the same time, finding something interesting to play with in his pocket.
Our youngest member passes his "A" Test

Pictured above is Edward Strachan, age 10 with examiner Matt Poulton. Ed passed his "A" Test on the 20th June 2010 with flying colours.
Having started to show an interest in learning to fly Ed turned up at the club last August and was kindly offered a 'taster' flight on the buddy lead, flying a trainer belonging to junior member Miles. He was hooked!
Equipped with his trusty Super 60 Ed was soon receiving training, support and encouragement from many club members, including of course his instructor Dan. He quickly gained in confidence and was taking off and landing unaided before very long.
Ed is really thrilled to have passed his 'A' test and is already discussing future airframe options!
Well done Ed, you are an inspiration
to us all.
Travelers on the Flying Field

|
Our flying field was invaded by travelers on Friday 29th May 2010. They gained access by cutting off the locks a smashing down the gate. Some 35 vehicles and around 100 people then occupied the site for 5 days. They left on Tuesday 3rd May 2010. The travelers were spotted as they were leaving by a vigilant club member and due to some very fast work by club members, the Police and the landowner (Henry), the gate was blocked as soon as the last caravan left the field. This was very fortunate, as within minutes another band of travelers turned up to reoccupy the field, twice as many as before. Little damage was done apart from to the gate, some woodwork which was burnt and a large amount of rubbish that was left behind. The club would like to extend very special 'Thank You' to the male and female Police Officers who were so helpful, especially in preventing the second group of travelers from getting onto the field. Special thanks also to Henry, who was very speedy and did a great job of blocking the entrance with a huge mound of earth. Also, to all the members who gave up their time to re-erect the gate and restore the field to its former glory. This was done in record time and just goes to show what can be done in times of crisis. They are a real credit to the club. Special thanks also to two gentlemen from Lichfield Council who were instrumental in getting rid of all the rubbish for us after some of our members had collected it up. Our field is
now looking better than ever, thanks to our fantastic members and
some very good organization.
